Cronite Castings in Crewkerne has been a sucessful foundry business for over 100 years. We are currently looking for machine operators to support our HJ5 production on nights.

We are looking for a
Machine Operator to set up, maintain and operate machinery. You'll ensure the interminable and efficient running of production.


A great Machine Operator is reliable and able to work with attention to detail, comply with and follow safety standards.

You will be a self-motivated team player. You will have the skills to successfully work with their assigned machinery to keep it running efficiently.

Effective Machine Operators can think on their feet, make quick decisions and have strong attention to detail to ensure no machinery issues go unnoticed.


Responsibilites:

  • Set up machines (calibration, cleaning etc.) to start a production cycle
  • Control and adjust machine settings (e.g. speed)
  • Feed raw material or parts to semiautomated machines
  • Inspect parts with precision and measuring tools
  • Test operation of machines periodically
  • Fix issues that might occur during the shift
  • Check output to spot any machinerelated mistakes or flaws
  • Keep records of approved and defective units or final products
  • Maintain activity logs

Requirements and Skills:

  • Willing to learn the working knowledge of diverse highspeed machinery and measurement tools (caliper, micrometer etc.)
  • Understanding of production procedures
  • Adherence to health and safety regulations (e.g. constant use of protective gear)
  • Ability to read drawings and manuals
  • Analytical skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Teamwork and communication skills
  • Physical stamina and strength


  • Forklift Licence

  • Not essential
Machinary experience is not essential as full training wil be given.
