Description

Our mission is to support the development of new treatments and cures for the 100s of devastating neurological conditions that affect 1 in 6 people in the UK (current figures stand at 14.7m).

The National Brain Appeal makes a major contribution in funding pioneering research, providing access to the best technology for expert diagnosis and treatment, and for training tomorrow's clinicians.

The charity funds advances in clinical care and research at The National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery (NHNN) and the UCL Queen Square Institute of Neurology (IoN), known collectively as "Queen Square".

To help drive and deliver our ambitious fundraising strategy in order to support the work of Queen Square, the Challenges & Community Fundraising Officer will support the delivery of the charity's challenge and community events alongside In Memory & Celebration.

The post-holder will recruit, inspire, steward and support fundraisers, helping them to reach their fundraising potential as well as identifying and developing new relationships with community groups.

Queen Square is one of the world's leading centres for the diagnosis, treatment and care of patients with neurological conditions.

These include neurodegenerative conditions such as dementia and Parkinson's disease, epilepsy, multiple sclerosis, brain cancer, spinal cord injuries, stroke and neuromuscular conditions.

Alongside caring for patients from London and the Home Counties, the hospital is also a national and international referral centre for those with the most complex conditions.

The NHNN has over 300 ward and 50 day care beds, as well as seven operating theatres which are supported by multidisciplinary teams from 2,400 staff, including 240 consultants.

Many of the consultants also work at UCL Queen Square IoN, which has a world-class reputation for basic and clinical neuroscience research with a mission to translate neuroscience discoveries into treatments for patients.
