HGV Mechanic/Plant Fitter
Reports to:
Transport Manager
Position summary
William Waugh (Edinburgh) Ltd is a long-established, family-owned and run metal recycler based in Edinburgh, Scotland.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Work to a high standard to undertake inspections, services, and repairs of our fleet of HGV vehicles and other company vehicles.
- Ability to follow planned work schedules and use strong communication and teamwork skills with the transport administration function to ensure that the requirements of the company 'O Licence' are met.
- Carry out inspections, servicing, and repairs of various pieces of plant and machinery as required.
- Ability to work independently on routine servicing and site breakdowns ensuring that work is controlled and carried out efficiently.
- Meet deadlines as required.
- Diagnose and rectify electrical and mechanical faults within the fleet when they arise.
- Compliance with company health and safety policies and guidance documentation
- Assisting with MOT preparation and inspections when needed.
- Carry out any other reasonable task which may arise from time to time according to the needs of the workshop.
Essential requirements:
- Qualified HGV Mechanic
- Previous experience in a workshop environment
- Full UK driving licence.
Desirable requirements:
- HGV licence
- Working knowledge of hydraulic and electrical systems
- Working knowledge of vehicle inspection standards and scheduled maintenance requirements
Key skills:
- Ability to work well and safely in a team
- Strong communication skills
- Attention to detail
- Initiative and the ability to work unsupervised.
Hours & Pay:
- Monday
- Friday 85pm + some overtime opportunities, Saturday 812 (overtime),
- Salary dependent on experience, and negotiable
Schedule:
- Overtime
Licence/Certification:
- Driving Licence (required)
- HGV Mechanic Qualification (preferred)
