Materials Management Controller - Band 4

University Hospital Wishaw - Theatres

37.5 hours per week - Permanent
Previous experience in Perioperative stock management is desirable and would be important for this supervisory role.


This post holder will ensure robust communications between the theatre manager, senior practitioner and clinical service manager for surgery to ensure any priorities or areas of concern are highlighted and actioned timeously.

The theatre manager will through the formal appraisal scheme, appraise the post-holder.


The post holder will continually review and identify any areas for potential cost savings and be involved in the resulting procurement process.


The post holder will supervise the workload and stock held on all 3 Acute site Periop areas to ensure efficiency and stock rotation.

A robust communication link is essential between periop services and procurement for the success of this post.


Knowledge in using an integrated stock management system is essential and experience in maintaining and updating system information is necessary and the post holder must be highly IT literate and have exceptional analytical skills and should have experience in delivering customer focussed services and have strong communication with the confidence and ability to relate to all healthcare professionals.


You should have at least 5 years experience within a Supply Chain management environment in-depth knowledge of supply chain processes is essential and must be able to operate effectively and be adaptable in conditions of change responding flexibly to crisis situations positively and effectively and team-working skills are necessary.


The post holder should be educated to HNC/SVQ 3 or equivalent such as Membership of the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supplies.
