An exciting opportunity has arisen for a enthusiastic, motivated and passionate Teaching Assistant to join the ASD unit within one of our partnership, mainstream schools based in Newcastle.

This is a full-time role, working 32.5 hours per week.

The successful applicant will have a genuine interest in working with children with Autism Spectrum Disorder and a commitment to providing the best possible learning environment for pupils.

Responsibilities will include:

Supporting the class teacher in delivering the curriculum
Assisting pupils with their learning
Supporting the needs of the individual pupil
Supporting the pupils in accessing the curriculum
Liaising with families, staff and external agencies
Participating in meetings, training and team planning

The requirements for this role are:

GCSE English & Maths
Preferably qualified to an NVQ Level 2 or equivalent qualification
Experience working with children
Ability to develop positive relationships with students, parents and staff
Possess strong organizational, communication and problemsolving skills
Understanding of classroom procedures and policies
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
