Description
We are looking for a dedicated Housekeeper to join our newly created Trauma Orthopaedic Ward.

This is to increase the trauma orthopaedic bed base and there will be a second ward at King's Mill Hospital.

Consisting of 24 beds made up 3 bays and 12 en-suite rooms. You will work alongside an established and excellent Multi Disciplinary team to provide patient centred care.


Co-ordinate all facilities services in the ward area and work as part of the clinical team to ensure clean, safe and comfortable environment participate with the ward Leader and Modern Matron in delivering key National Standards i.e Essence Of Care, Better Hospital Food, National Standards Of Cleanliness, PEAT Standards, Winning Ways.


All employees have an individual responsibility to have a knowledge of and employ the basic principles of infection control practice and to ensure adherence to the requirements in the Infection Control Manual.


  • In conjunction with the Modern Matron and Ward Leader, assist and participate in the monitoring and maintaining of cleaning standards on the ward.
  • Identify and ensure problems are rectified where appropriate
  • Report problems to the Ward Leader and Housekeeping Services Department.
  • Spot cleaning i.e ensure spillages are dealt with swiftly and efficiently, sanitary areas arechecked regularly
  • Upkeep of ward appearance i.e remove clutter, tidy notice boards, attend to storage requirements, signage etc ensuring PEAT environmental standards are adhered too, throughout the ward
  • Maintain upkeep and appearance of patient bed area
  • Responsible for maintaining the linen trolley is adequately stocked, order replacements as necessary
  • Liaise with Housekeeping Department with regard to specialist cleaning i.e carpet cleaning, curtain changes

  • Receive, welcome and guide visitors on the ward/department liaising with other staff
  • Assist in the training of Housekeeping Staff at ward level to ensure integration into the ward
  • Ensure safe storage of ward equipment monitoring cleanliness and reporting problems
  • Establish and maintain systems for equipment tracking where appropriate
  • In conjunction with the Nursing Team be aware of the patients general comfort and positioning to ensure individual patients needs are met
  • Dispose of dead flowers and change vase water when necessary to ensure
  • Top up storage units in patient areas as appropriate
  • Deal with minor complaints relevant to Housekeeping issues
  • Participate in and support the undertaking of patient satisfaction questionnaires
  • Report any other complaints, or advise of any potentially difficult or sensitive issues
  • Develop working practices to improve the quality of the service delivered to the patient
  • Any other appropriate duties designated by the Ward Leader
