Team Description:
Delivery of new business objectives in the Wholesale Lending Market.
Through our existing network of Lessor relationships, as well as seeking new partners, Wholesale primarily offers 2 lending products, Block Discounting and Receivables.
To achieve our business objectives, we facilitate deal flow through to credit approval, support and educate our introducing partners regarding our business "sweet spots" and liaise between internal departments and external partners to manage our business portfolio and maximise our ROE contribution.
Whilst the role sits within the Wholesale Team there will also be the opportunity on an adhoc basis to provide sales support to the Material Handling Team which has the same reporting line.
This will provide further opportunities to increase knowledge and experience in the Asset Finance market.Description of the role and key responsibilities:
- This role offers an exciting opportunity to an individual looking to start a career in Asset Finance. Initially a Sales Support position working with the Sales team, the role will offer ongoing learning and development opportunities to potentially lead on to an External Sales role and become part of the Teams succession plan
- Support the Sales Team to achieve business objectives including business pipeline monitoring
- Together with the Sales Team, attend Client Commercial Teams calls, in person meetings and events
- Following training analyse potential opportunities and provide a go/no go recommendation to the sales team, take responsibility for recommending smaller transactions to AF Risk
- Assist in deal execution activities including preparing pricing, client documentation and liaising with internal operations to completion
- Manage inlife Wholesale Portfolio including settlements, arrears, complaints etc
- Complete internal sales activities as directed by the Sales Team
- Spot opportunities for the wider IBP group and support their delivery
Core skills and Knowledge:
Market and Product Knowledge
- Understand the Key Performance Indicators and how they influence the profitability of the business
- General understanding of the Asset Finance Market & funding products
Relationship Management and Communication
- Ability to form relationships with Introducers and identify key decision makers
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Build, maintain and develop strong relationships with operations support teams and key internal stakeholders
Negotiation and Selling Skills
- Be able to determine rate and product proposals with Introducers and ensure both parties remain satisfied with outcomes
- Be able to say 'no' to an Introducer and back up the decision with a sound argument
Risk Understanding
- Ability to analyse and comment on proposals based on credit policy
- Basic understanding of business financials/underwriting (Profit and loss, Net worth, Leverage, interest cover etc)
Regulatory Knowledge
- Understand the key requirement of the FCA and FLA and in particular those guidelines relevant to the Asset Finance
Any other attributes that would be helpful, but not essential for the role:
Basic skills in financial analysis skills would be an advantage to build upon through coaching on a BAU basis from the Risk and Sales
Self-starter that does not need constant supervision or guidance around what to do next
Can do attitude glass half full mentality. Takes responsibility for own development with mentoring and support from business head, team and Risk colleagues. Focuses on equitable relationships and good outcomes for all parties
Strong work ethic (gets things done).
