Description

Peel House a 46-bed nursing and residential care home in Fareham is looking for a
Kitchen cook assistant to join their dedicated team on a Full-time 36hrs week permanent contract.

Usually, at 7 am starts, with some 12-hour shifts and some 6 hours. The position Will involve some weekends.

Competitive rate Salary of £9.50 - £10.50 per hour depending on experience.


This position is a mixture of shifts and duties as on some shifts you will be working as a Kitchen assistant and others as a Cook.


What will be included in your duties:

  • Assist the Chef to prepare excellent food in accordance with the menu and the requirements of our customers.
  • Always adhere to safety and hygiene regulations.
  • Maintain the high levels of cleanliness expected in a fivestar rated kitchen, including cleaning the food preparation areas, equipment, crockery, pots, and utensils.
  • Receive and put away deliveries.
  • Tidy and organize the storerooms.
  • Be a valuable part of the wider team to ensure the best customer experience.
  • Cook Traditional English food.

Required Skills and Qualifications:


  • Experience working in a busy Kitchen
  • A minimum of 12 years of experience as a cook
  • L2 in Food Hygiene desired
  • Thorough and particular attention to detail
  • Knowledge of cooking English traditional food

  • Cooking: 2 years (preferred)
- cooking in a care home: 1 year (preferred)
