We currently have a vacancy for a Temporary Cook to cover Sick Leave in our Care Home Eastcroft Grange.


Person Specification

  • A warm and friendly disposition
  • Good communication skills

  • Good numeracy and literacy skills

Responsibilities:


We are looking for someone who has ideally come from a catering background or someone who can demonstrate a passion for food and cooking.


You should be fully competent in the kitchen and be able to demonstrate an ability to prioritise tasks and be able to work independently.


You should have a good understanding of the basics of a healthy, balanced diet and be able to show an ability to provide delicious meals within this remit.

Catering experience within a similar setting would be advantageous but is not essential.

  • As a Cook at Eastcroft Grange, duties and responsibilities will include the following:

Managing the staff within the Catering Team, supervising and coaching staff to deliver nutritious and well balanced meals suitable for a group of senior people included modified foods.


Prepare Menus and order foods to facilitate menu cycles ensuring that appropriate supplies are available to meet menu expectations and requirements.


  • Prepare, cook, and serve hot and cold meals. Provide for special dietary requirements and consider the preferences of individual clients.
  • Liaise with the Catering Staff to plan menus, ensuring a balanced nutritious diet and making the best use of fresh foods. Present and discuss suggestions for menus.
  • Maintain accurate records of food supplies and deliveries.
  • Ensure statutory Health and Safety standards in the kitchen and dining areas.
  • Ensure all crockery and equipment is cleaned and stored appropriately, and that the overall Cleaning of the kitchen and dining areas is carried out effectively.
  • Report any faulty equipment.

Full-time, Temporary contract

Contract length: 2-3 months

£10.75 per hour
