We're seeking a friendly, compassionate and experienced person to join our Supported Living service as a Support Worker to support our customers to achieve their own independence.

Set on the edge of Well Street Common, Park Lodge has 25 one-bedroom flats. We provide personal care and support for adults aged 18 to 65, with a range of mental health needs.

The position of Support Worker is referred to internally at Sanctuary as Project Worker.

The role of Support Worker will include:

  • Regular key working and support planning to ensure relevant support is provided for our customers
  • Enabling and encouraging our customers to maximise their own potential and level of independence
  • Assessing customers' needs by writing and updating support plans
  • Promoting safe working practices by undertaking risk assessments within legislative frameworks
  • Working with statutory and nonstatutory agencies on behalf of the customers, actively encouraging choice and involvement, acting as an advocate when required
  • Sourcing innovative solutions to problems that allow customers' independence to be enhanced

Skills and experiences:


  • Experience of working with people who have mental health needs
  • A sound knowledge of housing management including voids and arrears management is desirable
  • An understanding of occupancy agreements is desirable
  • Excellent communication and listening skills
  • The ability to work on your own initiative
  • NVQ3 in Health and Social Care, or willing to work towards
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel or similar
