My client, a successful forward thinking consumer brand based in Manchester is recruiting an experienced Category Buyer to join their Procurement team.

Key Responsibilities:
Managing all commercial aspects of sourcing responsibilities - spend analysis, tendering and business award
Negotiating, implementing and maintaining supplier agreements
Driving cost reduction and reporting all cost-saving activity against agreed targets
Working with quality, operations, and research & development teams, thriving in a culture of continuous improvement with a view to delivering efficiencies
Dealing with complex issues related to the development of new products, new suppliers, or technologies to enhance new or existing products
Assisting in the creation and development of supply strategies that deliver business requirements across assurance of supply, quality, regulatory compliance, service, cost and innovation
Undertaking supplier performance reviews as necessary in order to maintain supplier performance levels for quality, cost and delivery
Skills Required:
A bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in related discipline or equivalent combination of education and related experience - MCIPS preferred.
Must have recent experience working in a similar Buyer role
A proven track record in Carton & Label procurement in the UK, with specific knowledge and recent relationships with primary manufacturers based in the UK and Europe.
Experience and knowledge of commodity markets, understanding drivers of change in demand and the appropriate actions to avoid negative financial impact and other business risks.
Proven Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) experience, able to demonstrate the necessary commercial skills (competencies) based on prior procurement & SRM experience.

Experience and knowledge of SAP environment.
Strong interpersonal skills.
Solid Microsoft Office skills.
Experience of working in cross-functional teams on a variety of projects, familiar with manufacturing processes and regulatory requirements.
Hands-on involvement with delivering business critical projects, involving the review and assessment of complex documentation (e.g. legal, contractual, terms of engagement, policy).
Proven commercial acumen; able to assess the financial impacts of industry developments and take the initiative in creating opportunities and to nullify threats.
Well-developed analytical, organisational and problem solving skills; able to effectively prioritise while supporting multiple stakeholders.
Self-starting personal attributes, with the ability to work alone or part of both informal and formal teams.
Salary £37.5k basic, negotiable - depending on experience
35 hour week, flexible working ie, 7.30am-3.30pm/9.30am-5.30pm - Friday finish at 1pm
25 days holiday + bank holidays
Pension 6% employer, 4% employee contribution
Hybrid - 2 days at home, 3 in office
