Global Learning:

an approach to education that increases understanding of complex global issues, such as inequality, conflict, climate change, migration and different world views.

We work with teachers and many others involved in education with the aim to inspire and inform so that educators can confidently bring the global perspective into their teaching.


Main Purpose:


To ensure the smooth running and future development of the Gender Action school award, with a particular focus on school recruitment, and building strong and strategic stakeholder relationships.


Context:


Since a fully evaluated London pilot, the programme has evolved into a school charter-mark scheme that promotes and encourages nurseries, schools and colleges to commit to gender action, and, through resources and training, supports schools in developing and implementing gender action plans.

Gender action plans are developed across key focus areas including:

Personal Practice; Student Voice; Curriculum and Learning; Progression, Choices and Jobs; Internal and External Communications; Engagement with Parents/Carers and the Wider Community.

New funding is allowing the Gender Action charter mark to be rolled out across England.


Main Duties:


  • Ownership of several key work streams; project planning and management
  • Budget management, including forecasting and reporting
  • Contributing to the development of GA at Beacon Level.
  • Speaking publicly in a compelling and confident manner
  • Managing website updates and all teacher enquiries via the dedicated Gender Action inbox
  • Contributing to the shaping of workshops with senior stakeholders, briefing participants, and leading on organisation and admin
  • Accurate and concise project reporting for internal and external audiences
  • Contributing to building relationships with senior stakeholders in Multi-Academy Trusts, charities, universities and other useful organisations
  • Supporting the exploration of the viability of funding models for sustainability
  • Coordinating Gender Action Consortium meetings dates, agenda, minutes

  • Proactive to think ahead and act to ensure the smooth completion of team/individual aims and objectives, and work with own initiative to solve problems
  • Dependable able to complete tasks to a high standard and to agreed deadlines
  • Organisational skills the ability to work with minimum supervision, prioritise workload, and handle multiple tasks
  • Interpersonal skills the ability to communicate positively with others; the confidence to listen and understand
  • Communication skills the ability to express information clearly and effectively in written and oral form
  • Computer literate good working knowledge of Microsoft Office and social media
  • Attention to detail the ability to accomplish/complete a task while demonstrating a thorough concern for all areas involved, no matter how small
  • Commitment to the principles of equality and diversity

Qualifications

  • Awareness of current issues in relation to gender equity education.
  • Relevant degree (desirable)

Experience

  • Presenting ideas and a vision to a range of audiences in meetings and to large groups
  • Experience and knowledge of UK education landscape and challenges facing teachers and schools
  • Working in schools on gender issues
  • Event management
  • Autonomy over project work streams
  • Reporting to funders
  • Relationship building in the education sector
  • Writing and creating compelling communications for a variety of audiences
