The Role:


As Media Planner, you will be responsible for planning all promotional items on a given group of channels in line with the marketing, editorial and scheduling timescales.


You will advise & assist the presentation team in order to meet promotional campaign goals, maintaining a clear and concise promotional strategy in accordance with programming priorities.


Main Responsibilities:

  • Ensure a clear & concise, audiencefocused message for all onair promotional campaigns
  • Construction of monthly media plans and strategy for assigned channels
  • Setting of all promotional campaign targets, taking into account programming priorities, sponsorship requirements, and external marketing efforts
  • Research for and contributing to strategic campaign briefs
  • Determine opportunities for appropriate cross promotion, based on channel profile and channel goals
  • Oversee the creation of monthly make lists with creative coordinators, establishing all campaign lead times, tunein tags, and transmission dates
  • Regular monitoring of overnights reports, and having the ability to identify trends in viewer behaviour
  • Liaise with schedulers in promotion/presentation department to ensure objectives are accurately met.
  • Ongoing assistance for the presentation team in the event of late deliveries or lastminute schedule changes
  • Analyse pre and posttransmission data to provide and present regular campaign evaluation reports for various internal and external contacts, ensuring all results are fed back into the media planning process.
  • Attend strategy and planning meetings, creative briefings with Programme Planners, Marketing and Creative.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

  • Proven TV experience in media planning working within a TV company (minimum 1 year)
  • Experience with broadcast ratings analysis systems. Experience with TechEdge would be an advantage
  • Accuracy and attention to detail is absolutely key
  • Excellent communication skills, assertive and tactful
  • Competent writing and research skills
  • Proficient in Excel. The ability to use advanced functions would be an advantage
  • Demonstrable understanding of the editorial and transmission requirements of the schedule
  • An appreciation of the creative process
  • Familiarity with presentation scheduling systems
  • Ability to coordinate a combination of roles and work under pressure
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and act decisively
  • An understanding of OfCom requirements & BARB panel data and the ability to interrogate such data
  • The willingness to be part of a team, coupled with an enthusiasm for television is essential.
