Softcat is seeking a Technical Consultant specialising in Hybrid Infrastructure with a passion for technology and strong desire for great technical outcomes for our customers.


About the role


As a Technical Consultant, you'll be responsible for engaging in scoping of work, creating technical designs based on customer requirements, producing statement of works that align scope and design, and the implementation of technologies for Softcat's customers including (but not limited to) core Microsoft cloud and on-premises technologies.

We have customers across the UK and you'll spend a proportion of your time at client sites, though you'll also be able to plug into one of our many office locations and also complete work from home when preferable.

As a Technical Consultant, you'll be responsible for:

  • Engaging with customers at all levels to help formulate and deliver robust technical solutions.
  • Assisting with presales, sales and customer focused conversations as they relate to hybrid infrastructure and modern workplace technologies.
  • Understanding client and stakeholder requirements to assist with planning and delivering technical work packages as part of a project or programme.
  • Responsibility for design and implementation of core Microsoft hybrid, modern workplace and onpremises projects for a wide variety of small, medium and enterprise customers including (but not limited to) tenant to tenant and onpremises directory migrations, device management solutions (such as Intune MDM and MAM), Exchange/Exchange Online management and migrations as well as identity and access management solutions (such as Active Directory and Entra ID).
  • Ensuring that delivered technical solutions are functional, fit for purpose and that handover and relevant documentation is provided to our customers.

What we need from you:


Required Consulting Experience:

  • Excellent proven and recent experience in the delivery of technical solutions within small, medium and enterprise level organisations.

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Hold a vendor or industry certification in more than one certification track.
  • Ability to determine and define project scope and objectives.
  • You'll be an approachable and presentable individual, with an enthusiasm and passion for the technology areas you are aligned to.
