Description

About The Role:

North Norfolk is a fantastic place to live, work and visit - covering over 360 sq miles of coastal and rural environment, with a population of over 100,000 people living in 120 distinct communities, our District is one of England's top holiday destinations and a place where people positively choose to live.

The District has an outstanding natural and built environment.

A key challenge of the Council is to enable growth to provide the required housing and jobs and supporting infrastructure whilst also conserving and enhancing the landscape character, natural environment and promoting healthy communities.

This must be achieved in the context of moving towards net zero and increasing our resilience to climate change.

The Council is at an advanced stage of preparing a new Local Plan which provides the planning policy context for the North Norfolk District up to 2036 and beyond.

This role will include supporting the delivery of the Plan (including Neighbourhood Plans, and future Local Plan Review), which can include assisting in the preparation of consultation documents, commissioning of consultants to undertake studies, consultation exercises, maintaining consultee data, liaising with internal and external customers, and preparation of planning documents.

The Project Support Officer will contribute to ensuring that team communications and documents are prepared and edited to a high standard.

Some experience in a local government or a planning environment would be an advantage - but isn't essential.

About You:

If you have the knowledge, skills, and experience to undertake this role and would like to be part of a friendly, forward thinking team then we would certainly like to hear from you.

Interviews will be held week commencing 11 December, 2023.

About Us:

We're committed to promoting equality of opportunity for the people and communities of North Norfolk.

We respect and value difference in our district and across our workforce, and we want everyone to feel included and able to play their part in making North Norfolk a great place to live, learn, work and visit.

Our coast and environment are really important to us. We have a net zero strategy, and a team of people working to deliver these important initiatives.

As one of the largest employers in the district, we offer a number of benefits that are open to all employees.

We have a really supportive culture of enabling our people to learn and grow through attending courses, e-learning, and their day to day job roles.

Our office in Cromer is clean, modern and light with onsite lunchtime catering, and free onsite parking.

We have an active health and well-being group with a new strategy, mental health first aiders, employee assistant program, employee discounts portal, and salary sacrifice schemes (bikes, home electricals and EV car leasing).

We have a great forum for communication with regular updates from Directors and Chief Executive, employee voice through our Staff Focus Group, and great working relationship with Unison, our onsite recognised union.

Most people that work for North Norfolk District Council can enjoy a great work life balance, as part of our hybrid approach to work.

If your role supports hybrid working, and we've shown you all that we need to for your job role, all we ask is that you have a stable and reliable internet connection.

In terms of the numbers, if you are new to the public sector, you'll enjoy 25 days holiday per year plus bank holidays, and when you've been with us for five years, this increases to 30 days (assuming the role is full time).

We provide access to a great pension scheme, based on your local authority career average earnings.
