Description

WERE RECRUITING
THIS IS NOT A WORK FROM HOME ROLE DUE TO SAFEGUARDING AND GDPR REASONS.

Call handlers are imperative in offering support over the phone to vulnerable and distressed individuals who are feeling suicidal.

The support you give as a call handler plays a vital role in saving the lives of others & being there in an individuals greatest time of need.

Our Warmley office are looking for new call handlers to fulfil this role.

We would require you to work the shift pattern of 22:00 - 03:30 over 4 nights a week.

The shift will be Saturday, Sunday, Monday & Tuesday.

This role also offers progression opportunities throughout other aspects of SPB.

All levels of experience is very welcomed.
Full training is provided in house by our Training Lead and additional external training.
There are 5 training sessions. Training runs for approximately 3 hours each session, and primarily held in the evenings.

It helps to have some of these characteristics:

  • Calm under pressure
Every call is different, which means you'll need to be a quick thinker and calm under pressure.

  • Compassionate

Many of the people you'll speak to will be in some sort of distress, so kindness and compassion are essential.

  • Professional

That said, this is a tough role emotionally, so it helps if you can balance empathy with an ability to not get personally attached to the situation.

  • Excellent communication skills

You'll also need excellent communications skills as you'll be relaying vital, potentially life-saving, information between your caller and the emergency services.

  • Critical thinker

You'll often be part of a wider team of call handlers, which means the job suits critical thinkers who can work both independently and in partnership.

Applicants must be over the age of 18.

We are looking for people who are open-minded, non judgemental, work well as part of a team as well as on their own & have the time & commitment to give to others.

If this sounds like an opportunity you'd be interested in looking into further, please do get in touch.
