John N Dunn is a well established, family owned business, which employs around 300 people carrying out plumbing, heating and electrical works for blue chip national housing developers across Scotland, North East and Yorkshire.
We're looking for someone to join us in a newly created position, within our fast based and friendly office, at Silverlink Business Park.
You will be a crucial part of the success of the business, ensuring the smooth transition of a contract from the estimating team, into a project ready to be delivered by the operational team.
This is a brilliant opportunity for someone to use their plumbing and product knowledge to really make an impact, whilst being supported by an experienced team.
The Role:
Using the estimate to produce a contract file which includes all appropriate information to successfully carry out the contact, including producing sanitary and heating schedules, on the basis of drawings and client specifications
Facilitate decision making on supplier for each contract by leading tender process, leading negotiations and conducting tender comparisons
Leading prestart meetings with operational teams
Monitoring divisional material spend, allocation, and prices. Working closely with the MD to provide robust information to facilitate commercial decisions
Developing and maintaining excellent relationships with merchants, working in collaboration to ensure appropriate servicing of contracts
You will need to be:
Fully qualified plumber with excellent IT skills. Or if no plumbing qualifications, significant experience working within a plumbing merchant
Have the ability to prepare technical information including drawings, specification and tender documents
Have the ability to identify plumbing and heating products
Ability to make a material "kit" from specifications and drawings
Demonstrating a clear understanding of what is needed to effectively hand over a contract for delivery
Capable of conducting design reviews and making necessary amendments
Have a good knowledge of Industry standards and regulations
Commercial acumen
Strong IT skills
Thorough understanding of a wide ranging of plumbing products and specs
Ability to plan and prioritise a demanding and varying workload
Strong relationship building and communication skills
Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and completeness
