Description

We have an opportunity for a highly motivated Assistant to join the Technology Platforms team within Centre for Human Genetics here at the Nuffield Department of Medicine.

Your primary role will be to help establish, develop and run high throughput service utilising platform generating multi-omics and spatial data from single cells to whole tissue samples.


You will be responsible for reliably implementing a range of molecular biology tasks, according to standard protocols, ranging from simple assays (sample quantitation and PCR) to complex tasks either manually and/or with the assistance of automation.

You will be tasked with troubleshooting technical or scientific problems, working closely with peers, senior management and relevant technical support.

You will be performing the steps required for the running of the different platform technologies as well as highlighting and implementing improvements to current procedures.

You will also be responsible for keeping accurate daily records of experiments on tracking sheets, electronic lab books or LIMS as appropriate.


It is essential that you hold a degree in Biological Sciences along with experience of performing complex experimental procedures following SOPs.

You will have demonstrable ability to organise and prioritise work efficiently delivering results to required standard and to an agreed schedule as well as demonstrable knowledge in molecular and cellular biology, genomics and -omics.

You will also have the ability to communicate with a wide range of people and to enjoy working as a team player with a lively and motivated group of scientists.


This position is offered full time on a fixed term contract until 31 July 2026 and is funded by the Technology Platforms SRF.
