Intern, SME Finance & Development

Role description:


Under the supervision of the Financial Products team within the SME Finance & Development Group, the intern may support joint advisory and finance programmes.

In general, the role will entail a variety of tasks, including but not limited to:


  • Contribute to the development of a number of blended finance products aimed at SME development and financial inclusion
  • Data gathering, research and providing background information into specific areas of project preparation and/or monitoring.
  • Provide support to the team members working on fundraising to mobilise adequate donors' resources for the Group's needs, either from bilateral or multilateral donors
  • Organisation and support to the management of upcoming events or workshops in the EBRD region of operation
  • Active coordination between different teams in the EBRD and with external consultants.
  • Preparation of outreach materials and adhoc briefings when needed
  • Drafting specific assigned portions of EBRD documents and correspondence.
  • Ad hoc assignments as requested

Key skills required:


  • Passion to learn and grow in EBRD
  • Proven analytical and numerical skills
  • Very good written (report writing, correspondence) and verbal communication skills in English
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work well within a team
  • Ability to work independently

Education/Experience required:


  • 6 month 3+ years of business finance or other relevant experience
- good relevant degree from a leading university preferably in Economics, Finance, Business, Development Studies
- computer literacy

  • Good understanding of and interest in financial inclusion issues of SMEs in emerging markets
- some relevant commercial experience
