    Quantity Surveyor

    We are seeking a Quantity Surveyor to join our commercial team on a permanent basis.

    The successful candidate will have experience of managing JCT or NEC contracts and be open to new opportunities.

    This is an exciting opportunity for someone to join a specialist joinery subcontractor based in Ashton-under-Lyne, who are looking to add to their team.

    The company has a strong reputation and a healthy balance sheet, with a turnover of circa £9.8m and staff of 75.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Procure tender costs from suppliers and contractors, conducting analysis to ensure rates align with the market.
    • Manage site materials, placing orders while adhering to budget constraints.
    • Generate and distribute regular cost reports, providing feedback on procurement targets and variations.
    • E nsure all contractual and subcontract management obligations are met.
    • Assist in expanding the supply chain by sourcing local subcontractors.
    • Compile Bills of Quantities / Material take-offs for ongoing projects.
    • Manage subcontractors, processing valuation applications and issuing notices within prescribed time-frames.
    • Finalise and agree on final accounts.

    Requirements:

    • Minimum of 3 years PQE working as a quantity surveyor in a subcontracting or main contracting environment.
    • Degree in commercial management or quantity surveying.
    • Experience of the commercial management of JCT & NEC contracts.
    • Commercial awareness and ability to independently deal with complex projects.
    • Strong communication skills with ability to negotiate with subcontractors, suppliers and clients.

    The role requires the successful candidate to work office based but also be prepared to travel to site when needed.
