Role Purpose


The Business Architecture Lead, Retail Banking & Wealth Management will be responsible for leading and supporting the alignment of business strategies with technical strategies for Retail Banking and Wealth Management.

The post-holder is expected to build an integrated view of the enterprise using a repeatable approach, a cohesive framework and available industry standard techniques.


The Business Architecture Lead, Retail Banking & Wealth Management will be responsible for analysing Retail Banking and Wealth Management's current operating model working with senior stakeholders, to identify capability gaps and opportunities for efficiency.


After identifying the capability gaps and opportunities for efficiency, the role-holder will design the business architecture principles for across value streams, and align this to the enterprise architecture principles as well.


This primary purpose of the role is to drive better cross-functional collaboration and agility, remove siloes, establish clear ownership and a single accountable party for customer journeys (especially those spanning multiple value streams) and above all drive operational consistency.


Responsibilities:


  • Developing and implementing a business architecture framework that aligns with Wealth and Personal Banking's strategic priorities, developing and maintaining the bank's business architecture standards and principles.
  • Working closely with other senior leaders in the bank, to ensure that business architecture decisions are made in a way that supports the overall business strategy.
  • Communicating the business architecture vision to stakeholders across the organization and keeping uptodate on industry trends and best practices in business architecture.
  • Management and prioritisation of the value stream / sub value stream delivery roadmap, in collaboration with Wealth and Personal Banking Technology stakeholders, support value streams in definition of capabilities that are fit for purpose and not excessively sophisticated.
  • Deliver on key HSBC Grouplevel business architecture priorities while supporting value streams with architecture decisions required to progress delivery of new capabilities at pace while managing business architecture risks and measuring and reporting on the effectiveness of business architecture initiatives.
Requirements

Knowledge and Experience

  • A broad understanding of the Retail Banking and Wealth Management industry, including products, competitive landscape, regulatory environment and digitalization/innovation trends.
  • Extensive experience in digital transformation, including design and delivery of digital capabilities with extensive knowledge of strategy, products, processes, technology and people.
  • Experience in agile ways of operating and working in or with value streams and the ability to grasp complex business and technology problems and design solutions, understanding of technical design of digital capabilities across the layers of the technology stack.
  • Analytical skills to derive insight from large amounts of imperfect data and information.
  • Ability to take a commercial stance when evaluating architecture decisions with the ability to influence a large and diverse set of stakeholders, including at an Executive level.
The base location for this role is London with hybrid working arrangements.
