Job summary:
If you would like to work within a small, multi-disciplinary team, conducting varied and valued Psychology work, then this post could be for you.
Job description:
Specific tasks may include but are not limited to:
- Engaging with customers to establish and deliver research and consultancy requirements.
- Designing and leading psychological research to address pertinent issues in the Royal Navy and wider MOD, including preparing protocols for scientific and ethical review.
- Creating and administering surveys to collect data on topics such as working conditions, safety behaviour and perceptions of military clothing or equipment.
- Conducting trials, facilitating focus groups, conducting interviews and analysing quantitative and qualitative data.
- Designing and delivering workshops on topics such as stress management, wellbeing and human factors.
- Line management responsibility for two Graduate Psychologists
- Writing research reports and letters for customers, including technical quality assurance of Graduate Psychologist outputs.
- Writing and submitting scientific papers and representing the group at conferences and meetings
Depending on the needs of the task, the post holder will at times work independently and at other times collaboratively with team members or colleagues in other departments.
The post holder will be required to engage with customers and stakeholders at all levels, including senior military and civilian personnel.
The post requires occasional travel within the UK and sometimes overseas, each of which may include overnight stays on land and possibly at sea.

Person specification:
It is essential that you have an undergraduate Honours degree in Psychology accredited by the British Psychological Society (BPS) and a postgraduate qualification in Psychology.
Membership or eligibility for membership of the British Psychological Society is essential (membership fees will be paid by the MOD).
A minimum of two years' relevant experience in one or more of the following roles is essential: applied psychology or social research.
