As an Assistant Psychologist within Shelley Park Neuro Care Centre, you will have the opportunity to care for adults from all walks of life and learn their stories that led to their time in our service.

Brief summary of the role:

To assist the Clinical Psychologist in the provision of a clinical neuropsychology service within a neurorehabilitation service. The Assistant Clinical Psychologist will carry out neuropsychological assessment, intervention and evaluation under weekly supervision of the Clinical Psychologist.


Key roles:


1. Clinical
1. 1 To undertake neuropsychological assessments of patients with complex physical and neuropsychological conditions.

This will include gathering information from a range of sources including neuropsychological tests, interviews with individuals and any others relevant to their care, and observations (including the recording and monitoring of behaviour).

1.2 To analyse and interpret assessment outcomes to guide psychological formulation and intervention under supervision.

3 To assist in the implementation of neuropsychological rehabilitation care plans, to include collaboration with other disciplines (occupational therapy, speech and language therapy, physiotherapy).

4 To work with other disciplines to assess/formulate patients who may have difficulty engaging, and assist in their rehabilitation goals.

1.5 To contribute to clinical judgements and formulations regarding rehabilitation and risk management needs.

7 To attend and contribute to appropriate multi-disciplinary meetings under the direction of the therapy lead and guidance of the clinical psychologist.


1.8 To undertake administrative tasks that help the daily running of the rehabilitation team, as directed by the clinical psychologist and therapy lead.

1.9 To support the rehabilitation needs of the residents by organising therapy timetables.

1.10 To receive regular clinical supervision in accordance with professional practice guidelines.


1.11 To perform other duties of a similar kind appropriate to the grade, which may be required by the rehabilitation team.

1.12 To maintain case notes in accordance with professional and service guidelines.

Teaching and Training:

2.1 To undertake literature searches to inform and develop training packages as required.

2.2 To support the clinical psychologist in organising and delivering training to staff.


3. Research, audit and service development


3.1 To engage in the development and conduct of clinical audit, data analysis, service evaluation and local research projects as required by the service.

3.2 To utilise therapy and research to support evidence based practice in individual and multidisciplinary work.

3.3 To undertake literature searches to support evidence based practice within the rehabilitation service.


Person Specification

Essential

_Qualifications_
Entitlement to graduate membership of the British Psychological Society


_Knowledge and Experience_
Significant experience of work in a clinical setting, under a qualified clinical psychologist.

Previous experience of working with adults with neurological conditions and/or complex physical health condition.

Experience of delivering neuropsychological assessments (e.g. WAIS-IV, RBANS, BADS).

An ability to interact and work in settings in which the atmosphere may be highly emotive.

High-level communication skills (written and verbal) with an ability to adapt to the communication style of the audience.

Experience of research/audit/service evaluation.

Experience of using computers for databases or data-analysis.
