RSR Justice are currently working with a domestic abuse charity to recruit for an Independent Domestic Violence Advisor (IDVA).


As an IDVA, you will develop and deliver confidential high-quality outreach and advocacy services support services to victims/survivors experiencing domestic violence and abuse at the highest risk levels living in the community.

This is a full time, permanent role, based in Coventry and offers a salary of £26,266.50 per annum.


The role:


  • To accept referrals from the police and MARAC's thorough the Helpline or directly into the IDVA service and undertake risk and needs and eligibility assessments.
  • Manage a caseload per year) ensuring each woman receives the appropriate service individual to her needs.
  • Carry out regular risk assessment and safety planning with women and to promote women's safety in multiagency settings such as MARAC.
  • Advocate for victims with agencies who can help in addressing the domestic violence and abuse and provide practical and language help to survivors and victims' with regards to their cases through the criminal justice system.
  • Recognize women and children's individual needs, providing a short to medium term service to meet those needs and to work with women to identify their 'support' needs and incorporate these into women's Individual Support Plans.
  • Support users to move out of crisis and highrisk independence and selfdevelopment.

Requirements:


  • Qualified as and IDVA or ISVA
  • Other relevant qualification or equivalent experience in work with vulnerable people especially women and children is desirable
  • Experience of working within safeguarding guidelines to protect and promote the wellbeing of children and vulnerable adults.
  • Experience of working with Black Asian and Minority Communities.
  • Experience of delivering talks, training or awareness sessions to external agencies and service users.
  • Thorough understanding of the issues of domestic violence in the BMER communities and able to recognize the implications and impact of patriarchy and colonialization.
  • Able to drive with a current driving license and access to a vehicle and business insurance.
