Foreign Language Assistant - French
West Buckland School is seeking a suitably motivated, confident and a qualified teacher of Foreign Language Assistant - French

***Summary of main responsibilities
To assist with the teaching of Modern Foreign Languages by giving conversation lessons to individual students or

The role

  • To promote the study of languages amongst students.
  • To conduct approximately 12 x 30minute periods of conversation per week (although the precise number of
lessons taught will vary according to the number of students studying the language at A-level). In previous
years, the lessons have been timetabled over two half days.

  • To prepare resource material for the conversation classes under the guidance of the Head of Modern
Languages.

  • To familiarise him/herself with the format of the A-Level oral exams.
  • To keep records of each student's progress in conversation lessons. The assistant will not be expected to
write reports or attend parents' consultations but may be asked to make a comment to teachers so that
reference can be made to pupils' progress in reports or at parents' consultations.

  • To conduct himself/herself as a member of staff and to be aware of the example he/she should set to pupils.
  • To arrive in class promptly.
  • To familiarise himself/herself with the Code of Conduct.
