Global EMC are looking for a design engineer who has experience in mechanical, structural, or electrical engineering and an understanding of civil mechanical / electrical engineering.

Is proficient with Solidworks design package. Holds excellent communicationand interpersonal skills, with previous experience of external relationship management with customers and suppliers.

Car driver with full UK licence, and must be willing to complete National security vetting procedure Level SC (Security Check)

The role will be to

  • Be responsible for aiding in the design process for each contract and ensure each design is within the legal framework defined by each contract taking account of the geographical, political, legal, and cultural differences of each country.
  • Assist the Commercial and Projects team, provide support in proposal production and produce sales drawings and other information or renders as required, sign off all key documentation to ensure each contract is in line with customer requirements and specifications
  • Create detailed design and manufacturing drawings for components, assemblies and large structures
  • When appropriate liaise directly with the customer concerning design parameters to ensure an accurate design specification. This may require site visits both UK and overseas.
  • In conjunction with the Head of Engineering, Commercial and Project management team, ensure each contract is to the agreement of the customers' requirements and specification.
  • Participate in internal team and other departmental meetings to ensure that design work is communicated and passed to manufacturing correctly and accurately.
  • QA check the engineering output against the design drawings before shipment.
  • Create 3D models in Solidworks of all of our standard component parts and assemblies and associated drawings.
  • Maintain and support a drawing register and be able to transfer information from detailed design drawings into a bill of materials.
  • Assist in the research and development strategy for the company and partake in hands on product development as may be requested.
  • Provide support for the Head of Engineering and Projects team, ensuring that they have adequate design support for each project.
  • Have direct communication, which may require site visits, to ensure the customer has complete visibility of designs.
  • Assist in the methodology for each project, and liaise where appropriate with the subcontractors on each contract to ensure the correct design and implementation of each project is agreed and understood by all parties.
  • Assist Projects on site visits to ensure projects are built to design, and identify, potential unforeseen required changes to design.
  • Detail small parts and fabrication.
  • Partake in product development as may be requested, including work within the workshop not just design process.
  • Be responsible for and comply with the ISO standards at all times.
  • Engage with a continual PDP [Personal Develop Plan] with defined goals as agreed with the Head of Engineering
