Due to an internal promotion we have an exciting opportunity for an Orthoptist to join our friendly and forward-looking team.

King's serves a dynamic, diverse and vibrant local population, providing a wide range of tertiary and specialist services. The Ophthalmology Department at King's is large, with 19 consultants covering all sub-specialities of ophthalmology. We have a large ophthalmology research office, supporting a varied range of research projects.


We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Orthoptist, who is a keen learner and is enthusiastic to develop their practice in order to deliver patient centred care.

You will be guided through competency training and funding is available to complete medical exemption courses.

  • To work within the multidisciplinary team working autonomously as an orthoptist managing a wide and complex clinical caseload.
  • Responsibilities will also involve working in specialist clinics including perimetry and extended roles.
  • To provide high quality evidence based orthoptic care to diagnose, plan, implement and monitor treatment.
  • To teach orthoptic and ophthalmic colleagues.
  • To ensure, individually and as part of the team, the effective and efficient running of the ophthalmology service.

  • Orthoptic
  • Paediatric
  • Ocular motility, strabismus and botulinum toxin.
  • Neuroophthalmology.
