Job Description:

The Production Team Leader will be responsible for leading a team of people on a specific product range, overseeing the production processes for that product and providing effective leadership and management for that team.

This includes developing and executing production plans, reviewing capacity and resource plans and ensuring that products are produced on time, cost-effectively and to the right quality.

The role holder will be working alongside the team on the relevant production line.

This opportunity is based on our production site in Hemel Hempstead and will be Monday to Thursday 7:45 to 16:45 and Friday 7:45 to 12:45

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assigning work to production staff on a daily basis using visual management to manage both short interval and escalation requirements.
  • Take ownership and responsibility for monitoring quality and output.
  • Drive real time problem resolutions within the team both in terms of containment and root cause corrective actions.
  • Deliver the business KPI's for Operations using lean techniques including visual management and problemsolving tools.
  • Promote and drive a continuous improvement culture ensuring best practices in health and safety and 5S are followed.
  • Assembly and/or Testing of relevant products to a high standard of electro mechanical skill level or testing on ATE or bespoke Test Equipment
  • Where required be able to deputise for other members of the team.
  • Liaising effectively with internal departments / teams as required.
  • Develop an agile workforce which reduces critical skill gaps, whilst also providing individual personal development opportunities.
  • Create and execute training plans within your team.
  • Ensure the team are compliant to all Smiths HR Policies and Practices.
  • Conduct performance reviews on direct reports and ensure the Smiths Detection review system is used.
  • Demonstrate strong leadership and communication skills.

The Individual

  • Experience in a Manufacturing environment with relevant experience in electromechanical assembly and or testing with ATE or bespoke test equipment.
  • Good communication skills, able to liaise effectively with internal departments
  • Good leadership skills, with a handson approach.
  • Selfmotivator, with problemsolving skills.
  • Possess a desire and willingness to progress further with personal development.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles, and a demonstrable experience of use of those tools
