Duration - 4 Years


Location - Arecleoch Windfarm (Ayrshire) or Harestanes Windfarm (Dumfries & Galloway)

Salary & Benefits

Year 1 - £20,000

Year 2 - £25,925

Year 3 - £31,850

Year 4 - £35,027

Minimum Criteria
Two Highers at grades A-C, including Maths and either Physics or English (or equivalent).
Comfortable operating at heights.

As an Operations & Maintenance Apprentice, you'll enjoy a range of benefits including:

  • On completion of your programme, you'll continue your development and you'll be ready to become a qualified Operations & Maintenance Technician.


The 4th year of the programme is a development year where you will spend most of your time at our windfarms learning from our experienced team of technicians and managers.

All of our locations are accessed over forestry tracks so you will be provided with an operational vehicle which is suitable for our road infrastructure to get you to and from your place of work and to navigate around site.


By the end of the programme, you will have acquired the necessary expertise and confidence to take on the role of an Operations & Maintenance Technician.

You will be equipped with a comprehensive skillset that includes technical knowledge, problem-solving abilities and a strong understanding of safety protocols.

In addition to the professional growth and career prospects, this apprenticeship will also provide you with personal development opportunities.

You will learn to work effectively as part of a team, develop strong communication skills, and adapt to a dynamic work environment.

What you'll bring

You'll need
two Highers at grades A-C, including
Maths and either
English or Physics (or equivalent).

As part of your role, you will be working on our turbines, which can reach heights of up to 90 meters, so it is essential that you are
comfortable operating at such heights.

Additionally, please note that most of our windfarms are not easily accessible by public transport therefore, having a
driving license and use of a vehicle is a requirement in order to travel to for your training and to operational sites.

Furthermore, it is important that you are open to traveling, both for offsite academic training and onsite training, to ensure your continuous development throughout the programme.


On completion of training please be advised that it is highly recommended that you live within a one-hour commuting distance from one of the designated locations mentioned above.
