London - This role can be performed with a hybrid working arrangement balancing working from home and the office.

It is expected that regular attendance in the office will be required in line with business, department and team needs.


Job Purpose


To provide trusted leadership for RICS on professional / technical matters within the Construction and Infrastructure sectors of the surveying profession, globally.

As part of a senior specialist team, the role's principal purpose is to develop and maintain a body of trusted, sector focussed standards and related professional development for the chartered surveying profession.

This role has a substantial level of external profile with the profession and its sector-based

stakeholders and is critical to ensuring RICS engenders confidence and trust.


Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver and maintain a defined, substantial portfolio of formal guidance and related projects within construction and infrastructure
  • Provide high quality and timely professional insight and support to RICS professionals on emerging issues within construction and infrastructure
  • Play a leading role, supporting the Sector Lead and Director to maintain the RICS professional competency framework, related body of knowledge / curriculum within a defined range of professional areas with little need for oversight / support
  • Regularly lead representation of RICS, (unsupported), on sensitive professional issues within defined areas, in a way which engenders respect and Influence with Govt and Industry stakeholders
  • Delivery of current, actionable market insight, through networks and own expertise, in order to inform the maintenance / development of high quality, risk / opportunity led, sector based guidance
  • Established internal expert, advising as required, on all professional issues within a defined range of professional areas, through external networks and own expertise
  • Mentoring to support colleagues' development, and possibly limited management
  • Responsible for planning and meeting budget on individual projects
  • Significant input to strategy within defined areas of responsibility, and input on business cases
  • Project management of a substantial portfolio of projects both within department and directorate and across RICS

Experience / Skills Required

  • Relevant sectorbased expertise with deep understanding and passion for the importance of excellence in professional surveying to society
  • A track record of delivering sound business outcomes in a multistakeholder environment with competing interests, which are justifiable to all
  • Capable of engendering trust and confidence with senior public and market stakeholders, capable of projecting RICS' brand credibly in an international environment
  • An enthusiastic and committed team player, capable of working effectively in a matrix environment
  • First class, written and oral communication this role will require you to deliver impactful profession and public facing communications which influence educate and guide relevant audiences
  • High degree of political sensitivity and the ability to bring effective, clear outcomes
  • The ability to lead the handling of reputationally sensitive issues effectively
  • Ability to analyse and assess requirements, advising on strategy and ensuring the recommendations proposed receive buy in
  • High level of personal ethics and a professional approach
  • A good appreciation of the importance and key factors involved in regulating professionals
  • Excellent project management and organisational skills
  • Proficient with IT and a willingness to adapt to new technologies
  • Excellent at coordination and prioritisation of work in a fastmoving environment
