Global Counsel is seeking an Associate Director to support our growing Climate & Sustainability practice in London.

The role will be as part of the leadership team of the global Climate and Sustainability practice helping to shape the strategy and lead engagement with a range of international clients, including some of the most prestigious companies and investors in financial services, manufacturing, technology, and consumer goods.


This role is designed for a consultant with the personal drive and commercial awareness to manage the needs of an exceptional portfolio of clients and to develop a growth strategy for the practice.

Global Counsel is looking for someone who will play a flexible leadership role across a wide range of high-profile policy and political issues, including emissions trading, circularity, agriculture, food and EU/UK policy.


The role:


  • Provide expert, strategic, actionable advice and thought leadership to GC clients on the risks and opportunities arising from policy, regulation and politics.
  • Ensure the successful delivery of client work that will include policy analysis, guidance on political brand strategies, the development of cutting edge thought leadership and innovative approaches to public policy engagement.
  • Lead business development campaigns and pitch processes including the development of climate and sustainability events as part of the teams broader marketing campaigns and efforts to contribute to policy debate and discussion.
  • Build and maintain relationships with clients and a wider network of businesses and policymakers at senior levels.
  • Act as an active ambassador for Global Counsel at relevant industry and policy events, and invest in developing the skills, expertise and reputation of yourself and others.

Skills profile:


  • Demonstrated expertise in public policy and climate and sustainability issues.
  • At least 6 years' experience providing public policy advice at a government, international agency, think tank, investor, corporate or NGO.
  • Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills in English.
  • A track record of effective team leadership and development.
  • A motivated selfstarter who works well independently and as part of a team.
