About us

Camden is building somewhere everyone can thrive, by making our borough the best place to live, work, study and visit.

Because, we're not just home to UK's fast-growing economy. We're home to the most important conversations happening today. And we're making radical social change a reality, so that nobody gets left behind.
Here's where you can help decide a better future for us all.

The role

The Health and Wellbeing Department is newly established in Camden, which connects public health, children's commissioned services and school health promotion and will deliver ambitions plans for addressing health inequalities and improving health and wellbeing for everyone in Camden.

The role will lead on the strategic development, commissioning, implementation and performance management of the range of locally commissioned services (LCS) in primary care and pharmacy that address health behaviours and inequalities.

The role will also develop new and innovative ways of delivering services that provide high quality and good value for money and maximise social investment in local economy.

As Locally Commissioned Service and Primary Care Lead, you will take the lead of the mandated NHS Health Checks programme and will work in close partnership with the Public Health Consultant leading for this area, the commissioning leads in other local authorities, the national programme leads and local primary care and GP leads.

About you

We are looking for someone who can identify and influence mutual opportunities for service improvements and for maximising social investment and benefits to the local communities.

You will be able to analyse and make recommendations to service developments against the national guidelines, the changing local context, needs and priorities.

You will be a skilled negotiator and will use your strong interpersonal skills to establish good working relationship with the relevant portfolio leads in public health, the contract delivery leads in pharmacies and primary care and also colleagues in the Health and Wellbeing Department who will lead on the overall service strategy and commissioning of these services.

Ideally, you will be confident in managing the budgets for the LCS and working with colleagues to ensure the prompt payment of invoices, preparing quarterly budget forecasts and reviewing annual budget requirements.
