VACANCY -BAND 4 PHYSIOTHERAPY ASSISTANT PRACTITIONER (ORTHOPAEDICS TEAM)

PERMANENT CONTRACT 37.5 hours

The start date for this post is on or after 1st April 2024

We are recruiting a Band 4 Senior Physiotherapy Assistant who will work with the newly formed integrated therapy orthopaedic team and be part of the strong Physiotherapy team that constantly sets and achieves high standards, working with patients within Pilgrim Hospital


A Band 3-4 transitional post will be considered for those with less experience, with the aim to progress to Band 4 following completion of competencies within a 6-month period.


Duties will include:


Undertaking highly skilled support work assessing and treating patients to aid the rehabilitation of patients that are admitted to the orthopaedic wards, requiring physiotherapy / rehabilitation.

To accept patients referred by the physiotherapist and carry as own patient caseload.


To use clinical judgment and freedom, within the scope of practice, and be able to work independently and flexibly without direct supervision but to receive access to regular supervision from a physiotherapist.

Treat patients on the wards according to set treatment protocols, monitoring progression and make minor alterations as required.

To be responsible for the management of delegated case load of patients maintaining appropriate records.

To contribute to providing a professional service, working effectively as an integral team member.

The post will be full time (37.5 hours a week) and will work as part of a 7-day service.
