About The Role:


  • Contract Type: Permanent
  • Working Hours: Full Time All Year Round, Annualised Hours (TTO + some additional days & times)
  • Working hours are 08:1516:30, Monday to Friday.

Salary:
Grade 5 £24,948 to £27,852 per annum

This is a great opportunity to come and work in our highly rated secondary school in central Manchester.

We are a caring and supportive school, offering specific pastoral support to each of our Year groups in the form of their own Senior Tutor and Pastoral Tutor.

Your role will be to take responsibility for an identified group of students to enable them to overcome various barriers to learning via mentoring, communicating with parents, carers and other agencies and tracking their development and progress.


You will work a longer working day, plus all Inset days, relevant Parent, Scene Setting and Open Evenings and one extra week, usually the first week of the summer holidays, which is compensated as annualised hours, and paid as an All Year Round salary.


WHAT WE WANT FROM YOU:

  • Experience and an understanding of safeguarding and child protection issues, or be willing to undertake training in these areas;
  • Numeracy and literacy skills at least equivalent to RQF Level 2; good ICT skills are also desirable;
  • Experience of working in a busy environment with competing priorities and deadlines, ideally in an educational setting and with experience of using SIMS;
  • Ability to remain calm and helpful under pressure, dealing skilfully with unanticipated situations and ensuring a professional response at all times;
  • Ability to build positive and professional relationships with students and their parent(s)/carer(s);
  • Good communication skills with the ability to work well within a team, yet able to demonstrate an ability to work unsupervised utilising their own initiative;
  • Well organised with an adaptable and positive approach to all aspects of the workload;
  • Supportive of the school's excellent staff attendance and punctuality record, which in turn supports student attainment.
