VPS Region NCE represents the global product & technology organisation Vestas Power Solutions (VPS) in Northern & Central Europe (NCE), where we operate across the spectrum of Sustainable Energy Solutions with Onshore and Offshore wind at the core.


As VPS Region NCE, we are responsible for technical scoping and contracting, technical value engineering, technical risk management, customisation and execution, as well as regional product market strategy and product integrity management.


The Offshore Technical Sales department is the offshore-focused arm of our Vestas Power Solutions Technical Sales organisation in Northern & Central Europe, providing the link between our business unit and our customer needs towards the central power solutions team responsible for global product development at Vestas.


In the Offshore Technical Sales team, we work on some of the renewable energy industry's most exciting technical value propositions, and we are looking for a Head of Technical Sales to guide the multi-disciplinary technical team focused on the UK & Ireland, comprised of Technical Bid Management, Siting Solutions, Support Structure Solutions, and Power Plant Solutions (Electrical, Grid, SCADA & Cybersecurity).


Responsibilities


You will be responsible for developing the UK & Ireland Offshore Technical Sales department, developing, motivating, and engaging a highly skilled technical team.

You will also be responsible for the operational management of projects in the UK & Ireland portfolio from a technical sales perspective, ensuring optimised, risk-mitigated technical value propositions and a firm understanding of market requirements.

  • Managing a portfolio of projects from a technical perspective, including resource planning and allocation across all technical functions.
  • Technical leadership throughout the life cycle of an offshore project, providing guidance and steering while empowering a multidisciplinary team of technical specialists to ensure an optimised, riskassessed, and riskmitigated business case.
  • Steering continuous improvement with customer focus, scalability, and quality focus frontofmind through strategic and structural improvement initiatives across the team.
  • Piloting technical market requirements capture for offshore UK & Ireland to contribute to wind power plant technology roadmap inputs.
  • Collaborating with key stakeholders across the business, including but not limited to direct peers across NCE and Global Technical Sales, Product Strategy, Product Integrity and Functional Leaders in the wider VPS Region NCE team; our global technology (VPS) stakeholders across Product Management and R&D functions; Regional Business Unit stakeholders including Offshore Sales, Offshore Construction, Offshore Service, Legal.
  • You can expect a strong externalfacing component, getting involved in building and fostering technical customer relationships, including Technical Key Account leadership, and advancing technical negotiations throughout the lifecycle of an offshore project.

Qualifications

  • Masters in a relevant field of engineering with commercial exposure.
  • Proven experience in wind / renewable energy technical functions.
  • Demonstrated leadership in guiding people and overseeing a team of direct reports.
  • Skilled in directing technical negotiations, ideally of heavy machinery, power plant equipment, or similar.
  • English is essential; additional Scandinavian or European languages would be advantageous.
