Syntech Recruitment are searching for a Buyer for our automotive client based near Maidenhead.
Working with the Purchasing Manager, you will be tasked with conducting and identifying cost reduction opportunities.


Buyer Duties:


  • Required to conduct effective strategic supplier negotiations on costs, and terms effectively in line with department objectives, business plan, procedures and company direction.
  • To identify and recommend cost reduction opportunities for existing products.
  • To monitor commodity market trends that can affect material pricing.
  • To ensure continuity of supply through robust supply chain procedures and strong supplier relationships.
  • To source new parts as required.
  • Agree/maintain standards and KPI's with supplier in line with management Policy, with agreed monitors and escalation routes, take lead in managing negotiations with all key suppliers.
  • Working collaboratively with suppliers to ensure deliveries are made on time as agreed.
  • To support the development of new programmes through early buyer involvement and identify cost saving opportunities.
  • Supplier rationalisation for all existing products.
  • To hold regular review meetings with key suppliers to discuss delivery / quality performance etc and ensuring that improvement plans and nonconformances are closed in the required time frame.
  • Place purchase orders in line with MRP demand and ensure PO accuracy.

Buyer Profile:


  • Experience working within an SME would be an advantage
  • CIPS level 4 qualified or equivalent
  • Experience in identifying cost reduction opportunities
  • Experience in evaluating financial, commercial and technical capabilities of potential suppliers
  • Experience in purchasing raw material bar stick (Steel and Aluminium) is ideal
  • Coming from a manufacturing background is desirable but not essential
