Head of Nuclear Medicine Physics - Department of Medical Physics


We are looking to recruit an experienced, innovative and forward-thinking Consultant Clinical Scientist to lead and manage the Nuclear Medicine Physics section, within the Department of Medical Physics in NHS Lothian.


The Nuclear Medicine Physics section provides scientific, technical, and clinical support to a range of clinical services using radioactive material including diagnostic imaging, therapies and non-imaging diagnostic services.

These services are located pan Lothian, at NHS Fife and Borders as well as supporting the Clinical Imaging research facility within the University of Edinburgh.

The Nuclear Medicine Physics section also provides a range of clinical services directly to patients including delivery of Molecular Radiotherapy (MRT) and DEXA.


As part of the Medical Physics senior management team, you will require a collegiate approach to decision making and leadership, with strong communication skills and the agility to work successfully in a multi-disciplinary environment.


This is an exciting opportunity to use your vision to lead the committed and enthusiastic team forward to deliver high quality clinical and scientific services.

You will be expected to develop the service and undertake research.

Hours of work are: 37.5 per week

The post is primarily based in the Department of Medical Physics at Western General Hospital, Edinburgh.


The post holder will be expected to work at all sites where services are regionally offered by NHS Lothian to NHS Fife and NHS Borders.
