Description

The school has a small class providing for students with a diagnosis of moderate autism ( ASD / ASC ) aged between 3 and 11 years old.


Essential requirements:


  • Experience supporting young people with autism / ASD, Asperger's syndrome, SLCN or similar learning difficulties.
  • Previous support role within a school or other child related experience.
  • Trained in or prior use of the Attention Autism Approach, PECS, TEACCH, ABA and or SPELL.
  • A caring and professional manner, willing to support with the personal care of pupils.
  • Must have legal right to work in the UK and an Enhanced DBS certificate on the Update Service.


The school use the Attention Autism Approach alongside PECS (Picture Exchange Communication System), TEACCH (Treatment and Education of Autistic and related Communication handicapped Children) and SPELL (Structure, Positive, Empathy, Low arousal, Links)so previous knowledge of any of these approaches will be beneficial.
