Environmental Manager - HS2
Working on HS2 main packages of works for a consultancy involved in the design and construct phase.

£450 - £500 per day - 3 days a week based in Birmingham


Role Description:

The Resolute Group are working in partnership with one of the Tier 1 consultancies working on HS2. Looking for an Environmental Lead / Manager for their project team based in Birmingham.


With so much work to be undertaken on HS2 this could turn into a long-term contract as the only reason this role is available is down to the permanent skills shortage.

You will need to have experience of a £100m+ project in an Environmental Lead or Managerposition due to the size and scale of the project being undertaken.


Day-to-day duties will vary but could include:

  • Manage the identification of environmental requirements and deliverables for your phase of HS2 including business case development
  • Preparation of technical reports on environmental risks and opportunities associated with HS2 including recommendations for mitigation/management.
  • Responsible for environmental sustainability performance reporting to various stakeholders including internal, external and HS2 (the client)
  • Provide specialist advice to the Project Team in relation to contractual environmental requirements including legal aspects.
  • Provide advice and solutions to the Design Teams on sustainable design and construction practices
  • Manage contracts with environmental subconsultants and specialists in delivery of specific environmental tasks including defining remits and monitoring of performance.
  • Undertake environmental assurance in accordance with the HS2 standards.


Reporting into the Head of Health and Safety this role is less about man management and more about being an expert in your field.

Advising the teams on environmental matters from the design stage through to site-based activities.

With such a public focuson HS2 regarding the environmental issues this role is vital to ensure the project can maintain its environmental policies and the commitments it has made.


Required Experience

  • Infrastructure experience
  • Used to handling Environmental based issues around major infrastructure projects.
