Research Data Be responsible for setting up and maintaining robust systems to collect, enter and submit research data at RCHT.

Work with the IOM to write procedures and work instructions for all aspects of the Research Data Team activity.

Be responsible for reviewing these processes regularly and undertaking monitoring and audits to ensure they remain up to date and streamlined.

Ensure systems are in place so all Data Officers maintain accurate patient trial documentation, complete Case Record Forms, including the use of electronic data capture systems.


Undertake ad hoc complex surveys or questionnaires in relation to Research Data Team and report as well as present the results of these.

Ability to negotiate and use initiative to ensure data projects are delivered in a timely manner.

To communicate sensitive information and present this to NHS staff of all levels Work closely with the Research Data Team, Team Leaders, Nursing staff and administrators to ensure a consistent approach to data collection and help to identify any barriers.

Supervision and Training of Research Data Team Supervision of the Research Data Team for the department.


Plan and coordinate work for the Research Data Team which at times can be complex and challenging to meet the demands of the service.

Be overarching responsible for the team workload and distribution. Support the IOM to undertake annual Performance Development Reviews (PDRs) of Research Data Team as appropriate.

Work with the IOM to manage the recruitment process for new research data staff as appropriate, and work to enable retention of research staff.


Support IOM to review any grievances, absence reviews or disciplinaries and work with the HR Business Partner to ensure a resolution following Trust guidance at all times.

Hold regular one to one meetings with the individual Research Data Officers and ensure regular Research Data Team meetings take place.

Ensure these meetings are recorded and actions are acted upon in a timely manner.

Working with the IOM developing and maintaining training materials and resources for the Research Data Team Be responsible for training new members of the team and ensuring they are competent.


Plan and organise regular training sessions providing face to face training to individuals and small groups of NHS staff Attend training sessions on specialist software required for specific research trial data capture and be responsible for cascade training.

Governance Working closely with the auditing and monitoring team on team performance (QUAD) as well as monitoring queries and work to reduce these by having robust systems for data collection.

Ensuring that all work follows the Trust and research governance policies and procedures at all times.

To undertake Good Clinical Practice (GCP) training and updates as required To ensure all Research Data Team processes are compliant with Trust Policies and Department SOP.


Secondary responsibilities Finance systems Support the IOM and Data Team to ensure all activity is captured in Radico (internal finance system) database and investigate discrepancies and resolve finance queries in a timely manner.

Work with the IOM and Finance Management Accountant on ad hoc internal and external financial audits. Collect data and interpret this to a high level of accuracy and to very tight deadlines. Support the research data team in submitting travel and expenses claims as per Trust guidelines.


Be responsible for the monitoring of stationery stock and requisition via Unit 4 as and when required, liaising closely with the budget holder.

Working with the IOM to ensure growth of commercial income into the Trust by ensuing an accurate and timely data input, providing good data governance and building the reputation of the Trust.

OTHER Be able to prioritise workload when frequently interrupted. Be responsible for the preparation of accurate trial/study reports and presentations.

General clerical office management duties as needs arise, including providing occasional cover for other research teams within the Trust.

To participate in own annual personal development review meetings (PDRs) To act as an ambassador for the department and promote its services.
