We currently have an opportunity for a
Debt Team Leader to join our team based
in Exeter.

Joining us on a
full-time permanent basis, you will receive a competitive salary of
£28,890 per annum plus excellent benefits.


About the role


You will support the Collections Manager to implement effective and compliant recovery strategies and manage a team to maximise cash collections and minimise bad debt.


What you'll be doing:


  • Managing the early cash collection team effectively on a daytoday basis to improve the company's cashflow by meeting agreed targets, supporting the viability of the business
  • Providing supervisory cover across the debt team where necessary and acting as a point of reference for escalated queries, this may involve liaising directly with the customer and the business to seek a resolution
  • Managing and coaching all direct reports, including all aspects of performance management, 121's, development, conduct, sickness management, appraisals, employee administration and recruitment
  • Ensuring contacts are logged correctly and ensuring all debt cases are handled appropriately and according to company procedures and policies
  • Supporting the preparation of case files for escalated collections activities
  • Liaising with other areas within PWS to facilitate seamless customer management
  • Providing department performance reports, and weekly company debt reports

What we are looking for:


  • Educated to GCSE, grade A-C or equivalent
  • Previous experience of working in credit and debt management
  • Experience of the water industry or other utility experience
  • Previous experience leading a team towards company targets
  • Evidence of excellent communication skills, both written and verbal along with listening and questioning skills
  • Proven exceptional customer service skills
  • Ability to present and explain options and solutions in a clear and professional manner
  • Full UK Driving Licence
