This post will join our internal safeguarding and welfare group and will play an important role in supporting the delivery of this vision and mission.

This role will form part of a national network of over 50 other officers hosted at the other 41 Active Partnerships across England supporting organisations and associations including NGBs to safeguard children and adults to be active at a local level.


The Sport Welfare Lead will work across Coventry, Solihull and Warwickshire and across welfare and safeguarding networks to support NGBs and their local clubs to promote good practice and safe sport and thriving environments for children through to adults.

The role holder will add capacity and expertise to the existing safeguarding work of NGBs and Think Active.

They will help support local club welfare officers by adding expertise and resources to their safeguarding work and help share good practice.

They will work closely with Think Active's Safegaurding Lead and Deputy and internal Safeguarding and Welfare team, other Welfare Officers locally and nationally, from organisations both inside and outside sport, such as NGBs and Local Authorities.

As part of this new national network there will also be a requirement to engage with other similar role holders locally and nationally and take part in national reviews of progress and sharing of best practice.


Case management will not be a function of the role as any incidents or concerns will be referred to the NGBs themselves.


These roles are part of a national project co-designed by Sport England, National Governing Bodies (NGBs), the Child Protection in Sport Unit, Ann Craft Trust and Active Parterships.


Base Location:

The main headquarters of the Charity is in Leamington Spa although some of the work involves being located across Coventry, Solihull & Warwickshire.

We have a blended approach of home-based working, office-based working and travelling to and attending meetings as required.

The post holder is expected to visit clubs and groups at the times they operate which will mean a adopt a flexible approach to their work.


Salary:
from £28,524 - £31,800 + travel expenses + pension.


Working Pattern: 37 hours per week


Contract type:
Fixed term until 31 March 2027


Annual Leave:
entitlement is 27 days (FT) plus public holidays


About you

We are looking for welfare specialist who thrive on building relationships and have an interest in sport and physical activity.

There will be considerable scope for you to support club welfare officers and help clubs provide a safe environment for participation for all children and vulnerable adults.

Regular reporting back, identifying and sharing learning and outcomes both within the team and nationally will be important.


We are looking for someone who has influencing and networking skills to work with local stakeholders to promote best practice and provide training to complement what is already happening in Coventry, Solihull and Warwickshire.
