Senior Leadership Role - Global Insurance Major

London / Home Based / Hybrid

- £75k - £90k + Bonus + Extensive Benefits

A fantastic opportunity in digital transformation for a global insurance major, the Cloud Infrastructure Lead will take a key role in a new team focused on transforming the way commercially critical digital platforms are provisioned, hosted and supported.

We are looking for an experienced infrastructure tech lead who will drive the automation agenda from a cloud provisioning and hosting perspective.

This is a hands-on technical role for a highly experienced engineer with a passion for automation to drive change by example in a 'team first' working environment.

The successful individual will benefit from joining a transformational change programme, taking charge of a globally distributed infrastructure engineering team during an exciting phase of change.

Key Responsibilities

Working with Head of Hosting & Cloud to define and implement the playbook for automating the provisioning of cloudbased server environments in support of the DevOps and broader digital transformation programme
Leading the pursuit of continuous improvement of availability, performance & capacity, of servers, storage, and backup solutions within both onpremise and cloudbased environments
Championing automation and process reengineering to continuously improve existing processes and move to more of an Infrastructure as codebased environment
Leveraging an ability to develop automation tools and programs from scratch to take ownership of Infrastructure automation toolset
Collaborating with other teams across the wider IT department to automate manual processes
Managing, maintaining and extending knowledgebase and system documentation
Create and support IaaS services in AWS and Azure Cloud
Acting as a global authority on all things infrastructure automation, from experimenting and championing new toolsets to laying down the standard process and approach by which IaaS solutions are provisioned, hosted and supported

Ideal Skills and Experience Profile

5+ years working in an enterprise class IT infrastructure team in a technical leadership / SME role or similar supporting AWS, Azure and onpremise Infrastructure
Advanced level proficiency in environment provisioning and automation using more than one common scripting language
PowerShell, Python, bash, Puppet, Ansible, Terraform or similar
Familiarity with VMware and virtualisation, vRealize Automation product suite and Orchestrator to create blueprints and workflows
Extensive experience gained from working in a modern DevOps led delivery environment
Strong PowerShell skills, ability to understand existing scripted solutions, write reusable and wellwritten efficient code utilizing functions and parameters
Expert level knowledge of server operating systems, with emphasis on Microsoft Windows, including domain structures, Active Directory, system administration, and Windows Terminal Server
Experience with the varied principles and tools of cloud provisioning & hosting such as: Monitoring Tools (SCOM, VRops and VRA), MS Azure (Azure Automation and Azure DevOps) configuration / querying (REST / 3rd party API's), Disaster Recovery (Azure Site Recovery and Cloud Endure), source control and git workflows
Azure or AWS certification
