Description

To manage the allocation of the fleet to train services, and ensure that the fleet team receives the units they need to maintain at the times they request them.

The Fleet Controllers also re-plan the simplifier and make any further unit swaps required to create a workable plan.

The overnight stabling plan, which reallocates fleet from day A to day B is issued by the Fleet Controllers, with the exception of those units at Aylesbury.

To ensure that specific job activities do not introduce unacceptable business and safety risks to any aspect of the company operation, and that the appropriate policies and procedures are implemented and adhered to, ensuring that all such activities comply with the relevant sections of the Safety Case and the current Safety Plan.

Utilise CR rolling stock effectively to ensure service and maintenance requirements are met.

Operate computer systems as required, providing relevant information to the DCM/DFM.

Ensure all services are correctly formed and presented at the start of service and maintained throughout the day.


Monitor rolling stock mileage to ensure maintenance requirements are achieved and presented to depots and stabling points at the end of the day.


Organise set/unit swaps in relation to DFM/Fleet requirements including arranging for any associated trains to use different platforms if required.

Hold regular discussions with DFM and DFM/Fleet regarding current rolling stock availability and future maintenance requirements.
