Buyer required for a 3-4 month assignment with a global oilfield services company, based at their site in Aberdeen.


Duties and Responsibilities will include:

  • Coordinating, expediting and processing the daily workload generated from the suggested purchase order report. Workcentre schedules and requisition requests.
  • Monitoring, expediting and updating, due or past due date, purchase order line items using the buyer workbench.
  • Monitoring and expediting supplier nonconformances and return to vendor dispositions, along with obtaining route cause analysis to prevent recurrence.
  • Monitoring and expediting the purchase order exception messages report in thruput scheduling.
  • Monitoring and updating lead times using the comparison report in Epicor.
  • Preparing and expediting invitations to tender, in accordance with the approved supplier list, to establish the preferred supplier, including the processing of waivers and weld procedure approvals as required.
  • Negotiating purchase order terms and conditions, prior to contract award, or purchase order placement.
  • Reviewing all subcontract and machined component purchase orders. Confirming that purchase order instructions clearly define work scope and traceability details. Facilitating and managing subcon vendors upfront to ensure that expectations are realised and understood to allow goods in to flow smoothly.
  • Measuring all vendor performance, delivery and quality. Developing and implementing corrective action when required to ensure agreed targets are met, certification to be received before goods are delivered.


Applicants to this position should have substantial experience in a similar Buyer/Procurement position within an MRP environment, preferably in the oil and gas industry.

A relevant professional qualification (e.g. CIPS) is preferred, though not essential.

You'll also need excellent communication skills and the ability to negotiate procurement terms. Strong IT skills are required. Previous use of Epicor would be beneficial.
