Wrexham Maelor Hospital require LAS FY2/CT level doctors to join the team providing quality emergency care in this busy 70,000 patient DGH ED from August 2023, for permanent posts.

You will be joining an enthusiastic committed team of 15 consultants, 10 Specialty Doctors and 16 Junior Doctors.

The post is for 40 hours with 50% out of hours banding. The rota is a full shift pattern, with 1:2 weekends. There is Consultant shop floor presence 08/ every day including weekends.


It has excellent case mix including paediatrics, major trauma, and critically ill Medical and Surgical patients, which presents excellent educational opportunities.


The Emergency Medicine Consultants are committed to providing experience and training to their staff in all areas of Emergency Medicine.

Formal and informal teaching is provided and educational advancement and audit will be actively encouraged and supervised.


The post does not have educational approval from the postgraduate Dean and will not be recognised for training, but is an excellent opportunity to practice emergency medicine in a well-supported environment.

The Health Board employs around 16,500 staff and has a budget of around £1.2 billion.

It is responsible for the operation of three district general hospitals (Ysbyty Gwynedd in Bangor, Ysbyty Glan Clwyd near Rhyl, and Wrexham Maelor Hospital), as well as 22 other acute and community hospitals and a network of over 90 health centres, clinics, community health team bases and mental health units.

The Health Board also

coordinates the work of 121 GP practices and NHS services provided by North Wales' Dentists, Opticians and Pharmacies.
