About us:


An exciting opportunity to join DWF's Commercial Services division as the Head of Finance in our Commercial Services division in Manchester.

This is a fixed term contract for 15 months working to our hybrid working arrangements of a few days in the office and a few from home.


As the Head of Finance, you will work proactively with key stakeholders to ensure that Finance embeds itself in the divisional decision-making.

The role will facilitate value adding and innovative strategic commercial financial advice and wider support to the Divisional Leadership Team, but in particular the Divisional CEO and Director of Operations, to ensure that financial and non-financial performance is optimised.

As the Head of Finance, you will play a major part in the development of Divisional strategy.


About the role:


  • Work alongside the Divisional CEO and the Director of Operations to provide commercially appropriate financial insight and challenge to support the delivery of the Division's strategy.
  • Nurture the existing finance talent globally, both within the Division directly and in the wider function.
  • Work alongside HR to track capacity and develop performance frameworks to continually improve the team.
  • Ensure that you work closely with your team to understand and monitor risks and opportunities on a regular basis to enable accurate forecasting to aid decision making and to update the Executive Board (as necessary).
  • Attend the Monthly Review Meetings, as appropriate, ('MRM') with members of the Executive Board and assist the Divisional CEO and Director of Operations to appraise performance with a particular view to the future forecast.
  • Prepare the Commercial Services section of the monthly Group Board pack.
  • Ensure that your team provide timely and accurate MI and proprietary information needs to a high standard and present them to the senior stakeholders in the business to allow informed decisions that drive performance.
  • Work with relevant colleagues to lead on improvements to the Group's pricing approach/strategy.

About you:


  • Strong communication skills and demonstrable experience of building strong and robust relationships will be an essential requirement;
  • A proven track record in having influenced key stakeholders to positively drive business performance and financial controls and understanding;
  • A high level of commercial and strategic acumen and the ability to educate and support the business to understand their finance performance;
  • Experience in an international business and familiar with the challenges of managing multicountry financial reporting and systems, as well as different cultures;
  • Strong report writing and presentational skills are required.
