Job description:
A successful manufacturing engineering business require a Buyer. Applicants need procurement experience gained within a manufacturing or engineering environment. The Buyer will purchase from a predominately, mechanical supply chain.
The Buyer will join a team of Buyers and Senior Buyers reporting into a Supply Chain Manager. The role is predominately operational in focus, and will involve some intercompany purchasing, spares and aftermarket buying.
Specific duties of the Buyer will include:
- Procurement of materials, services and finished aftermarket spares items to support manufacturing and MRO activities
- Supply market intelligence and supplier selection activities
- Develop suppliers and form relationships with key machine shop partners
- Drive suppliers against OTD and OTIF metrics
- Serve a link between supply chain, projects and engineering
- Maintenance of supplier details/documentation (tender, order, drawings, change etc)
Buyer applicants should meet the following criteria:
- Procurement experience within a manufacturing or engineering business
- Experience sourcing from a mechanical supply chain machine shops, engineered components, etc.
- MRP/ERP literacy
- Understanding of spares and aftermarket considerations
- Excellent relationship building and teamwork skills
