VNA Recruitment are looking for a Mechanical and Electrical Inspector to join one of our public sector clients based in Haringey.


Role Purpose:


To provide technical M&E expertise and professional advice on asset maintenance and replacement, covering all M&E services including HVAC, electrical systems, heating and water systems.


To specify, tender and project manage minor works and small projects, supervising contractors to ensure the works are carried out on time, in budget and to quality expectations.


Main Responsibilities:


  • Undertake M&E surveys in line with survey demands, identifying defects, priority of repairs/maintenance activities, and to conduct detailed analysis of asset and lifecycle data inputs.
  • Produce good quality written technical reports along with any necessary drawings to support findings/recommendations.

  • Prepare detailed technical specifications and drawings relating to identified M&E works within buildings, including the preparation of all relevant works approvals.
  • To tender works using clientsl procurement systems and processes, ensuring the appointment of suitably qualified contractors, quality and safety criteria are met and the appointed contractor represents valueformoney.
  • To manage contractors on site, ensuring that building occupants and site staff are fully consulted. Chair and take records of meetings at key stages. Maintain project files to include all instructions, minutes, certificates etc.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant Health and Safety regulations and guidance, including CDM, Control of Asbestos regulations etc. Undertake clerk of works duties and quality audits when required in line with demand.
  • To ensure works are commissioned in a customer focused way and that customer feedback informs the scope of works and delivery plans.
  • To support the budget monitoring process for the Asset Management Team including management of contract spend. Includes forecasting and projections for responsible project budgets.
  • Understanding, knowledge and ability to follow guidelines that ensures compliance to Health and Safety at Work, Data Protection and other statutory requirements.
  • Knowledge and experience of using IT/working knowledge adequate or sound knowledge required etc.

Experience/Qualifications:


  • Experience in an M&E surveying role.
  • Demonstrable experience of managing and monitoring building engineering contracts and/or asset maintenance and replacement, ensuring delivery to time, cost and quality.
  • Experience of developing briefs, works specifications and tender documents in conjunction with stakeholders
  • Holds a relevant academic qualification in building services/engineering at least at HND level, and relevant professional body membership.
