We are delighted to advertise this substantive 8a post for someone passionate about working with people with cancer, who has excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with multi-disciplinary colleagues.

The successful applicant will join the Clinical Psychology team at the Northern Centre for Cancer Care, Freeman Hospital, in providing a specialist clinical psychology service to both oncology and haematology.

The role includes direct clinical work in a variety of settings, alongside provision of consultation, supervision, teaching, training and research & development.

Essential requirements include doctoral level training in clinical psychology and registration with the HCPC.
Interview Date: 24th April 202- 21 Hours per a Week

Provision of clinical psychology services, across oncology and haematology, at the Northern Centre for Cancer Care, including:

  • Psychological assessment, formulation and intervention to adults, within outpatient, inpatient and day patient settings.
  • Offering advice and consultation on patients' psychological care to colleagues from other disciplines
  • Teaching and training
  • Supervision within clinical psychology team and for multidisciplinary colleagues
  • Service development, audit and research

  • Takes appropriate responsibility for clinical psychology provision specialising in a specific area (e.g. research and audit) to the service in which this post is located and making recommendations regarding service provision. Is expected to manage the care of the most challenging and complex psychological presentations presenting within this part of the service. Is required to provide supervision of trainee clinical psychologists.
  • Provides a qualified specialist clinical psychology service across all sectors of care to the population served by this post; providing specialist psychological assessment, formulation and therapy.
  • Offering advice and consultation on patients' psychological care to colleagues from other disciplines
and to other, non-professional carers, working autonomously within professional guidelines and

the overall framework of the team's policies and procedures.

  • To utilise research skills for audit, policy and service development and research within the area served by the team/service.
